I was very disappointed to read such dribble regarding Jimmy's. My entire family over the past 30 years have dined here for every special occasion and had nothing less than a memorable evening. whether it be for a casual lunch or dinner and including a special event in someones life, I have to say this restaurant is a piece of Boston's history and I like it just the way it is.- Is follow up to post by BosCass ...
After having dined at this restaurant for a number of years I have noticed a decline in most aspects of the experience. The evolution of the offerings has been anything but positive. It appears that the latest chef has a problem preparing even the most basic of seafood dishes, and don't even attempt the beef.
The service has dropped considerably, with the waitstaff unable to remember even the slightest request for variance to the menu offerings.
The atmosphere has clearly deteriorated in the lounge area. What was passable to good in the past, is not even up to the basics in the form of lounge amenities. There was no service available.
Given the meal and (lack of) service, including the lack of a suitable lounge creates a less than quality value. I have observed the degradation of the restaurant through the years, and am sorry to see it fall to such an abyssmal state.
The coat check person was more concerned with caring for what appeared to be her child than assisting with the checking and retrieval of our coats.
Everything said, the experience was not good, and will further prevent me from including Jimmy's in my dining experience in the future. -- 4/5/2002 1:25:36 PM
