Questionable service practices. Went in on a Saturday night without reservations, for a romantic dinner. Was told by the maitre d' that he would `try to squeeze us in,` then admonished us for not having a reservation as he seated us. He then proceeded to hover in what I can only assume was a search for a tip. No problem, I don't mind tipping for out of the ordinary service, but the more I thought about it the angrier I got. I mean, either tell us there is no table for us or seat us politely. I detest being told by a maitre d' that I am fortunate to be allowed to spend my money there. Once seated we waited quite a while before being attended to. Once we ordered a bottle of champagne, things seemed to improve. The food was very good--my steak was excellent and cooked perfectly.
