This was the worst restaurant I have ever experienced. I was a party of six which arrived last Saturday night at 6.02pm to Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant. At 7.15pm we got through a long line at the door to the maitre'd only to be told that we would be put on a waiting list for 3 hours or less. After 3 hours of waiting and a $600.00 bar tab we checked with the host as to what time we would be having dinner, only to be shocked that he said we would have another 1 hour to 1.45 minutes wait. My uncle who is diabetic who had taken his insulin shots that night almost went into a coma from lack of eating for such a long time frame. The host was taking bribes all night which started to cause an uproar by around 10pm that night when all of us guests who arrived from 5.30pm to 6.02pm realize that we were not getting a table, even though they wanted us to continue waiting. All the ladies in the bathroom kept complianing about how long the waiting period was and how much of a jerk the Host was for taking bribes all night only when it suited him, how disgusting. They were still taking names and informing people at the front as they walked in that there was a 3 hours or less wait. This was a blant lie as we were there close to 5 hours with no hope of getting a table. They could have just told the truth and most of us would have left at a decent time to go some where else for dinner. I have been in Hospitality Management most of my life and this is the worst I have ever seen. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I will write to the newspapers as well as TV and will continue to let everyone that I come into contact with daily know how awful this restaurant is. I know that people say Joe's Stone Crab is famous but in my books they are famous for treating people like *crud. I rate this restaurant a no star, the pits!!!!!! (edited)
