Souvlaki King looks out to Long Island Sound seperated by a beach and a busy road. Thirty years ago I would drive to this North Shore destination at any hour of day or night for a gyro or souvlaki sandwich. I have watched the neighborhood grow and develop around this venerable establishment. Now certainly Astoria, Queens has its concentration of Greek cuisine that all make serviceable Gyro with tzadziki (as do most diners) but this Bayville shop is King. This is not fine dining, this is a good sandwich made right, no clowns, no toys, just great fun.
