STILL GOING TO ALFREDO'S !!! Please read my first review (here) written way back in December of 2002. Now it's February 2004 and my wife and I want to tell you that we do the 200-mile round trip from Macon to Alfredo's on Cheshire Bridge Road at LEAST twice a month... we'll be there tomorrow night, Valentine's Day, at 6:30.

It isn't just the food. It's the staff and Mr. Perry Alverez the owner. The little things are all done right. They pour water WITHOUT ASKING. They serve hot garlic bread and a glass boat with pickled carrots, green & black olives, peppers, and cauliflower, and your wine order is filled PROMPTLY.

That word, `PROMPTLY`, goes a mighty long way in the year 2004. You and I both know of restaurants where the teenaged waiter/waitress interrupts you while you're chewing with your mouth full and insists on asking `How is it?` and then stares at you like you've got a problem? And you couldn't get more water if your life was in jeapordy.

At Alfredo's it's just the opposite. You are smothered with quiet attention to detail. They somehow manage to make every customer feel special.

Also we like to see the many families who come to dinner who must live locally, I'm sure. They seem to know everybody's names! It's so great to see the kids, the parents, the grandparents, and even occasionally the great grand parents at a large table enjoying wonderful food together.

Also it's romantic - so it's a great place to go on a date. Although I'm not a person who listens to Placido Domingo or Frank Sinatra under day-to-day conditions I expect it at Alfredo's and it's just great. And the booths are great for couples who need a bit of privacy.

We've tried other restaurants up the hill from Alfredo's that are also very good but we keep coming back to `Perry's Place` because it's just the best service, the best food, and easily the best price to be found. ($12 to $15 for most entrees). The veal is to die for. Bill Trail - Macon, GA 2/13/2004
