An awful experience at Forno's in Newark. They do not accept reservations for four. We were eventually seated in a loud, cramped, and chaotic dining room with far too many tables and people. While the waiters tried their best, the atmosphere was not conducive to an enjoyable meal, especially at those prices (avg price is somewhat higher than $12-20). Nothing was done about some noisy and disruptive patrons who disturbed half the dining hall. What's worse, while we asked to be seated in nonsmoking, we were placed (after a long wait) in the 'smoking room'; this destroyed what was left of the possibility for an enjoyable evening, and posed health problems with some in my party; when we mentioned this to the hostess, she had the audacity to lie to our face, telling us we never asked for nonsmoking in the first place! This happened to the next table over as well! While the food was as good as any other fine dining restaurant, the service was at times insultingly poor and the atmosphere was more akin to a circus than a classy restaurant. If you're looking to enjoy yourself, go somewhere else. Anywhere.
