I am only 21 and yet I've been to Italy on 7 occasions. I am Italian of decent and like to think I know a thing or two about Italian Cuisine. This Restaurant has better pizza than many a pizzeria in Italy done in the same brick oven fashion. The art of hand made pasta here is exaulted by their awsome sauces and algio olio and fresh vegetables that accompany their delicate strands of truely authentic Italian home made pasta. The appatizers are truely appetizing with fresh calamari, carpaccios, polenta, prosciuto(PARMA Without a doubt) and fresh mozzarella, and to top it off a wet bruschetta di mare (Bruschetta of the sea) that is very original and delicious. To save the best for last all maincourses are incredible, from the Veal Cutlet Milanese style, to the excellent filet and chop specials along with the grilled lagostino, truely perfect fish dishes and a tuna steak special to die for when available. From top to bottom this restaurant is number one on my list for cassual Italian dinning. You may even hear a few strange words being passed around in the dinning room not only by the staff but also by the people dining. Most likely they'll be speaking italian as I have found that many Italians hear about this restaurant from other Italians in the Philadelphia area and abroad as far away as Italy. So went my conversation when picking up on the beautiful sounds of my second language while dinning on several occasion. Many of the Italians eating at Girasole are eighter local residents and find this restaurant to be a shining extension of their country pressent in the U.S. or are suggested this restaurant by other Italians back in italy who have pssed through Philly and bent their ears about this great city and it's amazingly true to style and form restaurant so far from home. All in all you'll just have to try it for yourself. I'll see you there.
