The Bistro is probably our favorite restaurant. Located in South Anchorage at the end of a quiet little a strip mall. The menu is ALWAYS interesting and they live up to thier motto: `Fresh, fun, food`. Open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is divided into 2 sections. The Bistro side is a bit more casual. The finer dining side is just that...finer dining and you may not order of the bistro menu, so, if you have a hankerin' for the nachos baked in the brick oven(the best in the world and I recommend them with the chicken caesar salad for lunch.)and a beer you'll have to take your seat on the Bistro side. We have never been disappointed on either side, although I have heard others say they would rather eat at the Lone Star or Cattle Company. When I hear this I am dumbfounded. I guess for some this type of gourmet quisine would be an aquired taste? (Kind of like my parents-in-law who would rather drink Sanka than fresh roasted coffee!) Try the roasted garlic and sun-dried tomato soup. We also recommend the brie and flatbread appetizer AND there is another one served with flatbread that comes with roasted garlic and gargonzola...this one is like a party in your mouth! They have a very nice wine list. The wait staff has always been exceptional. Give them a try...you won't be disappointed.
