Amanda Hesser be dammned. If you're really interested in an evening of fine dining ignore the trendy Times twits and go for food as opposed to foreplay. The restaurant is elegant, quiet, serves wonderful food with simple style and with wines at what must be the most marginal mark-up in the city. A rare experience. The stars allocated in this review sequence indict NYC's inability to recognize quality as opposed to pizzazz - which I guess the Times folk need to play up to keep insecure readers in thrall so they'll keep their unnecessary jobs. Once upon a time, the Times knew food. Now, it appears, they know sales volume.
