The fact that this person actually thinks Chow is `far superior in every aspect` to 2223 pretty much sums it up: some people should stick to Denny's. I have been to 2223 many times. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the entire city. I can honestly say I've NEVER had a bad experience - or even a lackluster one - on any level, and I am certainly not young, 'hip', or particularly good-looking. If one's companions are uncomfortable among the crowd at 2223, I respectfully suggest that this might have more to do with their own lingering internalized homophobia, than it has with either the food, the service, or the establishment... - Is follow up to post by SF Tom ...
Food quality here can be inconsistent, but the service never is - it's ALWAYS pretentious, and your waiter's attention (or lack thereof) is dependent upon how good-looking you are and how well you're dressed. Several female friends have said they're uncomfortable here midst the mostly youngish, hippish, and very gay crowd, and are generally ignored by the waiters. With so many better places in the area (Chow on Church @ Market is only two blocks away, and far superior in every aspect), management is foolish not to improve the service and, until they do, you'd best go elsewhere. -- 3/5/2002 4:30:47 AM
