As you step down into Sammy's you feel as if you have been taken back to the middle of the 20th century: low ceilings, walls adorned with snapshots, the sound of keyboard a synthesized rhythm machine, the voice of a singer with a heavy Yiddish accent envelops you. This is the kind of place where the bigger your dining party, the better. Let loose and have fun! This goy hand a trememndous time singing, dancing and eating at Sammy's. Although I do not eat red meat, I had a delicious half of a sring chicken. Being of Polish descent and somehwhat of a gourmand I couldn't resist tasting the steak others in our party had ordeed. The steaks the shape of Long Island overflowed the large dinner plates. It was tender, tasty and downright sumptuous. The chopped liver and onions was outstanding. Great half-sour and dill pickles. Selzter bottles are not left to get empty as each is quikly replaced and the selzter nears the bottom of the bottle. Try their vodka special. Served as any quality vodka should be: ice cold. Among our party of six we shared two giant bottles of Ketel One brought to our table in a solid block of ice. Mmmm. Mazaltov!
