It is tempting to cite the Helmand's value as it's principal asset, but the truth is that the food is the star. It is consistently great. I don't really like rice much, but I always eat the Helmand's rice as soon as the plate is put in front of me. The rest of the menu sends a lamb and eggplant kinda guy like me into a Mediterranean food-lover's coma. As if the great food, wonderful warm decor, and energy level weren't enough...the wine list is very reasonable.
