As the owner of 2223 I know I am not very objective regarding Tom's review of my business. However, after reading SFTom's review I would like to defend our service and point you to the 10 Citysearch.com reviews that each one talks about the freindly service. Granted, my service staff is pushed hard at times due to high volume and of course I can't be watching everyone of my employee's interaction with guests, but I can tell from our level of business and the plethora of positive feedback in the media (print, interent) that we satisfy far more than we disappoint. Finally, I find it hard to believe that Tom's female friends feel uncomfortable at 2223 ...I know few women in SF who are uncomfortable around gay men..what could they possibly be uncomfortable about? It sounds to me that Tom is a little uncomfortable himself around good-looking, young, hip and and gay???- Is follow up to post by SF Tom ...
Food quality here can be inconsistent, but the service never is - it's ALWAYS pretentious, and your waiter's attention (or lack thereof) is dependent upon how good-looking you are and how well you're dressed. Several female friends have said they're uncomfortable here midst the mostly youngish, hippish, and very gay crowd, and are generally ignored by the waiters. With so many better places in the area (Chow on Church @ Market is only two blocks away, and far superior in every aspect), management is foolish not to improve the service and, until they do, you'd best go elsewhere. -- 3/5/2002 4:30:47 AM
