It's too bad JD's is no longer open!!!I have had wonderful experiences there. Such a shame! ANy other you suggest?- Is follow up to post by diner doe ...
We started with cajun crab cakes and a sea scallop dish. Both were excellent. The house salad was made of a tough green that neither of us cared for and the dressing was not very good either. The other salads we saw being carried past the table looked absolutely wonderful however. I would suggest upgrading to a different salad at this restaurant. Our entrees included a ribeye with carmalized onions and sauteed mushrooms and a parrot fish in a sauce that was predominantly orange in flavor. The ribeye was exactly medium rare as requested and the flavor/texture was very good. The mushrooms and onions were excellent. The fish was very flavorful and obviously fresh. The sauce was somewhat strong but still good. Both entrees came with fresh green beans which were steamed to perfection as well as redskin potatoes which could have been fresher. We both had two margaritas which were well made and came in very elegant tall glasses. We had hoped for a specialty cappucino with mousse to round out the meal but the machine was not working. We were both too full for dessert although the offerings sounded great. The decor is a little sparse with dropped ceilings and a deli case facing the dining room but the atmosphere is softened by dim lighting and fresh flowers on every table. White cotton tablecloths and a multitude of silverware add to the effect. Our server was efficient if not overly welcoming. In summary, my guest and I were very satisfied with our meal. Our bill for two was $110.00 and we felt that the meal was worth the cost. This restaurant is a good place for a meal worth savoring and a quiet atmosphere to enjoy it in. -- 9/8/2000 9:00:42 PM
