We visited this small bistro near the ferry landing on a Saturday night with a full house in attendance. The menu offered the standard French fare, including staples such as escargots and duck a l'orange. The onion soup gratinee was acceptable, but the onions could have caramelized longer and simmered in its broth a bit longer, as well. The entrees were prepared according to classic French methods, with no variation to the themes. While the food was good, the dining experience was marred by service that was so slow and neglectful, it seemed at times as though we had been forgotten all together. Twice we asked for butter and twice it was forgotten. Placing a simple cocktail order (Martinis) took repeated reminders. And more than once did a server carrying a pitcher of ice water walk past our table of empty glasses without ever noticing. IF `tip` is an acronym for `to insure promptness,` none was earned this evening. Perhaps a less busy night might yield better service, but I will think twice before returning any time soon for a repeat performance.
