Last night my mom and i wanted a nice meal out after a long day of being at the hospital for her to have some tests there in huntsville. We live in decatur & hartselle. When we got there i asked for non-smoking section. I have allergies to cigarette smoke & asthma. We were seated promptly. Next thing i knew ....we had just gotten our salads ....some one over 2 tables from us had lit up. I immediately asked to be moved. (turns out the smoking area was 2 tables away from us) We had to wait & wait to be moved but finally the waiter did move us. We waited & we waited & we waited. I asked the waiter on yet another trip by where our food was. He said he was going to bring it right out when he put the food he was holding down. So he brought it over an hour after we had ordered it. Part of the food was cold. Very good but cold. I had lobster tails. My mom got the catfish filets. She said they didnt even taste like fish at all. When we left we went back through the front door. The bar area had so much cigarette smoke i almost choked. On the way back to Decatur i had to pull off for a long time at the boat harbor because i was having one of the worst asthma attacks i have ever had. I know people have the right to kill themselves with cigarettes if they wish. But they dont have the right to try to kill me. Also the restaurants and ANY dont have a right to play with peoples lives. I have a right to live & be as healthy as i can without someone elses smoke doing me in. They have the freedom to go outside. If me & others like me are inside we STILL have the smoke to deal with. Its juts NOT fair. At this point i will probably not go back to the restaurant. The only way i will is if there is no smoking ALL over the restaurant.Smoke always drifts into the whole places when there is even a small place designated.
