If you are visiting Nashville and want an authentic, not touristy, local 'dining' experience, try Arnold's. It's a down-home, country-style 'meat-and-three' -- one meat and three vegatables -- served cafeteria style. The pies at Arnolds are legendary. (My favorite is the chocolate.) I used to work nearby and would eat there about once a week. Chet Atkins and several other 'music people' (that's what we non-music people call them) are regulars...great eating. Other 'meat-and-threes' to try in Nashville are Hap Townes, Sylvan Park Grill, Swett's and (same style cooking, but on a larger, institutional scale) Belle Meade Cafeteria. Like barbeque restaurants in Memphis, there are 'meat-and-threes' throughout Nashville. So everyone has their favorite.
