One of the nicest things which occurred while my wife and I were staying in San Francisco was that La Scala at the Westin St Francis Hotel was booked and we could not get a reservation for dinner. Instead we were able to get seated at this charming little neighborhood Italian restaurant. I will not tell you that it is the best I have ever experienced but I will say that it is very close. The menu is exactly what I want from any restaurant that claims to be Italian cuisine, it is extensive (they really do serve linguine and meatballs) and the prices are reasonable. The table staff are very knowledgeable regarding the items on the menu, and their wine offerings. They are attentive and courteous and are unafraid to recommend a dish to a stubborn Italian client, such as me.The space is cozy and could be a little too warm depending upon the season, but otherwise will remind one of sitting in the kitchen of a nice Italian family. All in all my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised with the outcome of our dining experience with this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone visiting the San Francisco area.
