The Olive Garden is to Italian food what Chi-Chi's is to Mexican (although maybe not quite as good). If you don't expect too much you'll be satisfied but don't look for creativity, authenticity, or a romantic atmosphere here. The salad is based on iceburg lettuce, the pasta is occasionally gluey or stiff, the alfredo is your basic grocery store jar type sauce, and the seafood is cooked with a lack of expertise. The wine and dessert are jug and freezer case quality respectively. You get all this in a Bob's Big Boy kind of setting where you're likely to be seated by a family with one kid running around the table and another screaming in a high chair. If you brought kids this is great since you'll be comfortable, but if you're looking for a quiet evening away from your own brood it's a little disconcerting. The service is usually good and you do get a lot of food for the money. Not bad for a Saturday lunch after shopping but it's not going to impress the boss or a hot date.
