This is without question the best restaurant in Boston. The food is superb, service is perfect, and the place itself is simple, elegant and beautiful. Unlike some other fine dining establishments, one feels totally at home and at ease in L'Espalier -- the place is not stuffy at all, just very nice and comfortable. You do pay through the nose (I'd expect about $300 for two, depending on what you get to drink), but once in a while, I think it is definitely well worth it for such an exquisite experience.
