Oh, come on now, this place is a dive. Jay's has been a hit since it first opened in 1959 and has been serving wonderful grub (and pretty good meals) ever since. Any place that stays in business for 40+ years MUST have something going for it and this place certainly does. From Jay at the front to the cook in the back, you can rest assured that you will be well taken care of. The food is good (please note, this is NOT only a great place to eat or drink, but to enjoy s true 'Southern California' experience), the booze is honest and the crowd must be experienced. Among all of his other accomplishments, Jay is also an actor (stage, screen and television) , so you never know who might be there. Old and new, known and still undiscovered, the folks that frequent Jay's are among the best that Southern California has to offer. Go, enjoy the evening and be sure to get to know someone new in the crowd. Ah, life in Santa Monica, it is something to enjoy...
