After visiting the Boulder Bookstore downtown, stop in the Bookend Café (part of the location). The Bookend Café is known as a great place for a cup of java or vegetarian meal – a place where you can really find the flavors of Boulder. I find the bathtub of newspapers (next to the counter) humorously appropriate along with their free bulletin board chocked full of local information.
Personally, I enjoy the fresh salads at the Bookend. In particular the pasta salad is made with a perfect blend of noodles and vegetables in a light oil dressing. If you prefer more grown items, the coleslaw or fruit salad is also worthy of consideration.
It’s easy to put on some calories at the Bookend, especially given their wide variety of deserts and pastries. Try the pecan bars or the peanut butter cookies -- both delicious with a hot mug of steaming coffee.
